Pickup truck rental in Salalah
A pickup is the right car for a Dhofar trip that involves kit. Camping gear, two rooftop tents on a bed rack, kite and surf boards for the winter beaches at Mughsail and Fazayah, or a week in the Empty Quarter with water, fuel cans and a cool box.

Who this category is for
The GWM Poer is the easy choice. A 2024 double cab with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol, eight-speed automatic, five seats, part-time 4WD with low range and an electronic rear diff lock. It is modern, economical for its size and the best tent platform in our fleet.
The Dodge Ram 1500 is a 2011 crew cab with a 5.7-litre V8. It is big, heavy and uses a lot of fuel. It is a comfortable highway cruiser and a strong tow and load vehicle, and it has low range. It is not the car for a first attempt at dunes, and it is awkward in Salalah's older streets. If you want the Ram, you probably already know why.
Off-road driving is permitted in both. Keep to existing tracks, and carry extra water and fuel north of Thumrait.

The Poer. It is lighter, has a rear diff lock and is easier to recover. Take Premium cover, fill up at Thumrait and tell us your route.
Very. Budget on roughly double the fuel of the Poer for the same distance. Its 98-litre tank gives a useful range, but fuel is the main running cost.
Yes. Both are fine on Route 31, and there is no relocation fee when you drive Muscat to Salalah yourself. Fill the Poer at Haima; the next reliable fuel is Thumrait.
