How Car Rental Salalah (Nomad Tours LLC) collects and uses booking data, licence uploads, WhatsApp messages and analytics, and how to request deletion.
This notice explains what carrentalsalalah.com collects, why, who sees it and how long it is kept. It is written in plain language and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. What we collect
- Request and quote forms: your name, e-mail, mobile and WhatsApp numbers, nationality, licence country, whether you hold an International Driving Permit, your dates, pickup and return points, car and add-ons, flight number and hotel if given, and anything you type in the notes.
- Booking confirmation: images of your driving licence and, for non-residents, your International Driving Permit, uploaded through the site or sent on WhatsApp so we can check them before handover.
- Card hold: your card details are entered directly with Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store the full number; we receive a token, the card type and the last four digits.
- Messages: the content of WhatsApp, e-mail and phone conversations about your rental.
- Browsing: IP address, browser, device, language and pages visited, logged by our servers for security and, only with your consent, by Google Analytics 4.
Why we collect it
We use this data to answer your request, check the car is free, confirm the booking, verify the driver is licensed, place and release the card hold and the OMR 100 deposit, hand over and recover the car, handle fines and damage, and meet our legal duties in Oman. The legal basis is the contract you are asking us to enter into and, for licence and fine records, our obligations as the vehicle owner. Season dates and offers are e-mailed only if you tick the optional box; every e-mail has an unsubscribe link.
Cookies and analytics
The site works without analytics. Functional cookies and local storage remember your settings between pages. Analytics loads only after you accept it in the consent banner; if you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics script runs.

Sharing
- The shared booking system run by Nomad Tours LLC for Oman Car Hire, Nomad Tours and Car Rental Salalah. Staff who confirm, hand over and recover cars across those brands see your request.
- Stripe processes the card hold and deposit under its own privacy policy.
- WhatsApp (Meta) carries the messages you send us under its own terms.
- Google receives analytics data only after your consent.
- The Royal Oman Police and insurers, where a fine, accident or legal request requires it.
- Hosting and e-mail providers that run the site and send confirmations.
We do not sell personal data. Some providers process data outside Oman, including in the EU and the United States; where EU law applies we rely on their standard contractual clauses.
Retention and deletion requests
- Requests and quotes that do not become a booking: 12 months.
- Booking records, agreements and invoices: the period required by Omani tax and accounting law, as Omani tax and company law requires.
- Licence and IDP images: deleted 60 days after your return date after the rental ends, unless needed for a fine or claim.
- WhatsApp and e-mail conversations: 12 months.
- Analytics data: the lifetimes in the cookie table.
You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it where we have no legal duty to keep it, or to stop marketing e-mails. Write to bookings@omancarhire.com from the address you used for the booking, or message +968 99224286; we reply within 30 days.
EU/GDPR notice
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the GDPR or its local equivalent gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your supervisory authority. Our legal bases are contract (your booking), legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, recovering fines) and consent (analytics, marketing e-mails). We have not appointed an EU representative.

No. Card details are entered directly with Stripe, our payment processor, when we place the hold after confirming your booking. Stripe stores them under its own privacy policy and gives us a token, the card type and the last four digits so we can match the hold and release the OMR 100 deposit after return. Our staff never see the full card number.
